Competitive Environment for Business
Businesses may be affected by regulation that aims to promote policy objectives other than competition. Businesses may also be affected by government participation in markets.
The Consumer & Competition Framework Review is required (by its Terms of Reference) to "be mindful of removing or lessening, wherever possible, the regulatory burden on businesses when assessing the costs and benefits of regulation."
The Review Team must also "consider how effective current legislation is in addressing access to essential market infrastructure".
Issues arising in the competitive environment for business are discussed in the Second Issues Paper, available for download here.
